David Chychkan conceived “With Ribbons and Flags” as an ongoing project.
From 2022 to 2024, he created portraits of members of the Ukrainian anarchist and anti-authoritarian movements who stood up to defend Ukraine. The series was expanded with new works, and while David was still alive, work began on a book intended to bring them all together. It had to be completed without the author.
On the first anniversary of David Chychkan’s death, *With Ribbons and Flags* was published. The book features all the works in the series, along with texts by Denis Pilash and Yustyna Kravchuk about David, his art, the Ukrainian Anarchist movement and the people he portrayed.
All texts in both English and Ukrainian.
In the spirit of Davyds work, the cover sleeve of this publication can be used to and it up as a poster at home, gift it to friends or distribute it on the streets.
